Cape Air pilots will have another chance to vote for Teamster representation. Management had interfered with the previous election, according to the government agency in charge of union elections.
The National Mediation Board on Nov. 18 ruled that the May election was tainted because the carrier had endorsed the opposing union and helped it win the election. (Read the 27-page decision here.) Cape Air pilots on May 11 chose to be represented by the Cape Air Pilots Association.
Teamsters alleged that Cape Air management had interfered with and dominated the election process. The NMB ruled that “the Carrier interference warrants a re-run election using the Board’s standards ballot and a posting of the attached Notice in the workplace.”
Ballots will be distributed on Dec. 7 and will be counted on Jan. 4.
