Who are Frontier Flight Attendants For Teamsters? We are a group of Frontier flight attendants who strongly believe that we need to form a union with the Teamsters. We need a strong union at Frontier to give us a greater voice and the benefits of a union contract—and no union is more powerful or capable than the Teamsters.
Recent Updates
Today, the National Mediation Board mailed out SAMPLE voting instructions to the Unions and to Frontier. If you are interested in viewing the sample ballot instructions, connect to this link.

During the Merger F9 FAs Are Far More Protected with the Teamsters
In a recent letter from Teamster attorney Bill Wilder, a respected airline industry labor lawyer, we learned important information. Click here to read the letter.
- With the Teamsters, F9 flight attendants will negotiate a NEW agreement that will be based on our current pay, benefits and work rules. Again, we will make negotiations starting from our current pay, benefits and work rules. We will seek to make improvements. The current RAH pay rates, benefits and work rules WILL NOT be imposed on us—whoever is making this claim is simply not stating the truth.
- With the Teamsters, our current F9 pay, benefits and work rules are PROTECTED and can’t be changed by RAH because the Teamsters already have a labor agreement.
- With the AFA there is no such “status quo” protection and RAH can change our pay, benefits and work rules at its whim.

Scope Language
We have looked closely at the two unions that will be on the ballot for union representation. We feel strongly that the Teamsters are our best choice.
One reason is because of the cutting-edge work the Teamsters have done to protect flight attendant job security. This is in stark contracts to the AFA. Check out the attached factsheet for more detailed information. Click here.
In the current merger situation that we find ourselves in, job protection needs to be our number one priority!
In Solidarity,
Frontier Flight Attendants For Teamsters
Meeting with the AFA
Jerry Johnson and I stopped by Chili’s and attended the AFA meeting. With two others in attendance, we were able to have a "fireside chat" with the CWA-AFA F9 organizers, John Warner, Kim Mayer-Sasser, and Erica Schwietzer, and so we'd like to thank them.
We were able to educate them on the following Q & A's and we encourage everyone to get familiar with why F9 FA's seek Teamster Representation. Click here to read the questions we asked the AFA.
On March 12, 2010, the National Mediation Board (NMB)—the federal board that governs unions under the Railway Labor Act (the law that covers aviation industry workers)—ruled that Frontier Airlines was not part of a single transportation system with Republic. The Board then set the stage for an election in which flight attendants can vote to form a union.
On March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day), the Teamsters submitted authorization cards to the NMB and will most certainly be on the ballot. We anticipate that an election will take place by mid-May. However, there is a possibility that the election could take place even sooner.
This time will be different! We know that we have tried to form a union at least three times in the past. But this time all evidence points to overwhelming support to form a union. With both the Teamsters and AFA on the ballot, there will clearly be a majority in favor of unionization.
Why are the Teamsters the right union for Frontier flight attendants?
- Democratic values—once we are Teamsters, we will directly vote for all of our representatives from shop stewards, to our local officers, to the president of the national union. This is the best place for our voice to be heard. There is no union that is more democratic than the Teamsters.
- Locally based—We will be voting to become a part of Teamsters Local 961 which is based in Denver. We will have an office, hall, meeting rooms, local business agents and all our direct services right here in Denver. If we need our union, it’s just a short drive away.
- Deep experience with Frontier and the new parent carrier, Republic—The Teamsters already represent three other professions at Frontier: the aviation mechanics, appearance agents and material specialists. The Teamsters representation has been strong and successful. The Teamster business agents, lawyers and researchers know our carrier. At Frontier the Teamsters have a successful record of protecting jobs against serious threats from the company and Teamsters have negotiated strong contracts.
The Teamsters also represent many employees at Republic. The union represents flight attendants, pilots and customer service agents at that carrier. Again, the Teamsters know the company and have a successful track record of representation.
What does this mean for Frontier flight attendants? It means that once we become Teamsters, we become part of a strong coalition made up of our co-workers. As part of this coalition, we are better positioned to win a strong contract and protect and improve our jobs.
The Strongest Union in the Airline Industry
The Teamsters have 1.4 million members in over 500 local unions around the country focused in the transportation industry. Because of its size and strength no union is stronger in dealing with big companies (especially Airlines!) and big government. The Teamsters are the fastest growing airline union in the U.S. The Teamsters have the resources and capacity to provide us with great representation.
The Teamsters Airline Division provides focused expertise on representing 60,000 aviation industry employees at dozens of carriers. The division is led by Captain David Bourne—an experienced pilot and passionate advocate for members. The Airline Division and has led many legislative battles for airline workers on Capital Hill. The Teamsters have a well-known record of negotiating strong contracts—especially around job protection. The Teamsters have the best aviation industry attorneys. In addition, the Teamsters offer researchers, negotiators, pension and benefit experts, health and safety experts, lobbyists, communications specialists and additional staff to help us improve and protect our jobs.
The variety of professions that the Teamsters represent in the airline industry (including pilots, mechanics, customer service agents and more) provide real power in pushing airlines to better our jobs, our pay, our benefits and to protect our jobs. It is a model that has a track record of success where other models have failed.

What are Teamster Dues?
Teamster dues are 1.125 times your hourly rate paid once per month. If your hourly rate is $30 per hour, your monthly dues will be $34 per month. The dues money pays directly for the union to represent and service us. For example, it covers the costs of the expert who will negotiate our contract, the attorneys who will help us resolve our issues, the local union office rent, etc. With the Teamsters 100 percent of our dues are received by the local in Denver–and are then dispersed to the International. Most of our dues stay with the local in Denver to be used for our needs. Click here for more information.

Beware of Wrong Information!
Beware of wrong information that is being passed around. Once we form our union with the Teamsters, we will negotiate our own independent Frontier pay rates, scheduling, working rules, benefits and other matters. We will start at our current rates and status and negotiate up from there.
The Teamsters have the best job-protection language in the industry.
